Launched in the Fall of 2011, the I Am Rutgers online magazine seeks to provide insight into life at Rutgers University and introduce the reader to the diverse perspectives and experiences of everyday Rutgers students. Populated with a growing wealth of stories, photos, videos, and artwork created by students on the New Brunswick campus, I Am Rutgers covers a wide breadth of topics ranging from academic to extracurricular. I Am Rutgers is a unique student-centric media source created by Rutgers students, for Rutgers students, about Rutgers students. Additionally, I Am Rutgers serves as a way to highlight different university initiatives that focus on our students.
250 for 250
From November 2015 to November 2016, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Rutgers University, I Am Rutgers featured some of Rutgers’ most involved and accomplished students in a series called “250 for 250.” This year-long series will serve as a reflection of Rutgers’ diverse and active student body, as well as the university’s status as a premier national research university.
#RUIDProject
In 2016, as part of the Division of Student Affairs’ initiative for Diversity and Inclusion, we started the #RUIDProject to highlight the many diverse identities and experiences of the Rutgers student body. Students featured in this project share how they choose to identify themselves and how Rutgers either helps them express their identity or has helped shape their identity.
