That’s right, y’all! I am still alive and I finally watched Avatar: The Last Airbender. This feels like it was a long time coming, both watching the show and getting back to recording. I’m sorry for the content drought, but the pandemic has been making me feel super uncreative, mostly because the desk that I record all of my podcasts at has been serving as my workspace for the last 3 months and whenever I sit here I feel like I should be getting something done for the office. To overcome this feeling, over the last few weeks, when I was done with work stuff, I have kept myself fed on a steady diet of videogames, workouts, tv shows, and movies, and have found myself with an awful lot to say.
This week on Stay Watchin, let’s dive into Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was just added to Netflix. In the episode, I talk about how it’s possible that I had never watched it before (leave me alone, I didn’t have cable when it aired), what I felt watching it for the first time, and why I think it is such a great series. And for a little garnish, I also included a few quick thoughts on The Legend of Korra, which I started watching as soon as I finished Avatar because I’m gluten and terrible at portion control.
Stray thought that did not make it into the episode: I think if I lived in the world of Avatar, I would probably be an earthbender. There is something really cool about being connected to the planet in that way that I didn’t fully get from some of the other types of bending.
